Belén Anguas

Belén Anguas is a director, playwright, and screenwriter from Pilas (Seville), with an outstanding career in theatre and film. Since 1993, she has trained in acting, theatre and film directing, and playwriting. In addition to her artistic education, she has studied child and adolescent psychology.

In 2001, she founded the Tilo S-tilo Cultural Association to promote access to acting and artistic creation, staging numerous plays, both original and classical. In 2003, she established the Diamond Phenix Cultural, Theatrical, and Audiovisual Association, through which she has directed film festivals such as Pilas en Corto and the International Short Film Festival of Valle de Bravo in Mexico.

In cinema, she has directed short films such as Te quiero (dedicated to the victims of the 11M attacks), Un día cualquiera, and Segunda oportunidad. In 2006, she achieved a lifelong dream by directing Lina Morgan in El secreto de la Abuela. She also directed feature films like Política Correcta (2013), with a renowned cast. On television, she wrote and directed the series Por los pelos (2008), which addressed social integration of the Latin American community in Spain.

Her involvement in microtheatre began in 2014 with Trabajo a tiempo parcial and Los hijos. In 2017, she premiered the biographical play Bartolomé y Beatriz, un amor entre pinceles. In 2018, the Echegaray Factory in Málaga staged her play Bailando con Locos.

She has received numerous awards, including the Lumière Medal of Cinema (2014), the Gold Star for Professional Excellence (2015), the European Gold Medal for Merit in Work (2016), and the Culture Award in 2019. She is also a peace ambassador for the Cercle Universel des Ambassadeurs de Paix, an academic in television and film, and a member of the SGAE.

Currently, she has completed the short film Trabajo a Tiempo Parcial, which was a finalist in the Navarra Tierra de Cine competition in 2022. Beyond her artistic work, she has participated in conferences on gender equality and domestic violence and has contributed to educational programmes using film as a learning tool.
