Twenty years ago, Alfaguara Infantil y Juvenil, an imprint belonging to Penguin Random House Grupo Editorial, published Twilight, a novel written by American author Stephenie Meyer. To celebrate this twentieth anniversary, a charming edition will be published on September 30th of this year with a new cover and a unique interior design. The element that makes this commemorative book even more unique is its gilded edges, which hide illustrations of the main characters, Bella and Edward.
Regarding this celebration marking the 20 years since the publication of her first novel, Meyer said: “I find it incredible that 20 years have passed since Twilight was introduced to the world, although I also find it incredible that only 20 years have passed. The success of Twilight has changed my life in many ways, but what hasn't changed is the gratitude I feel toward my readers. They have been the best part of this experience from year one to year 20. Thanks to the opportunity readers gave my novels, I have been able to make a living writing; a true dream. I will never stop being grateful for all the support and recognition I have received from my readers over the years.”
Megan Tingley, president and publisher of LBYR, publisher of Twilight in English, said: “The fact that readers continue to discover and enjoy these novels twenty years after their publication is a testament to Stephenie's narrative mastery. The enormous legacy she has created is evident in the thriving fantasy and romance market we are experiencing today.

The Beginning
Twilight was originally published in October 2005 and arrived in Spain under the Alfaguara imprint the following May. Since then, it has captivated readers, drawing millions to a young adult romance that chronicles the lives of Bella Swan and Edward Cullen, a young mortal woman and the vampire she loves.
Recognition
Time magazine included the book on its list of the “50 Best Romance Novels” in August 2024 and wrote: “When Twilight was published in 2005, it created a new kind of community of young adult literature fans... whose legacy lives on.”
The novel reached number one on The New York Times and USA Today bestseller lists, was named the best young adult book of all time by Time and the best teen novel of all time by National Public Radio, and received The New York Times Editors' Choice, among other awards.
Since Twilight was released, Meyer has published four other Twilight Saga novels: New Moon (2006), Eclipse (2007), Breaking Dawn (2008), and Midnight Sun (2020), a version of Twilight told from Edward's perspective that Netflix is currently adapting into an animated series.
Five films were released between 2008 and 2012, and the adaptation of the final book, Breaking Dawn, was split into two parts.
