Dachser expands in Magdeburg (Germany)
The logistics operator Dachser began operating in a new distribution center at its headquarters in Magdeburg (Germany) in mid-February. In the new 40,000 m2 warehouses, Dachser provides logistics services to its main client Globus Baumarkt, and to other companies in the region. This expansion entails the creation of 40 new jobs in the area.
Dachser's new premises in Magdeburg cover 84,000 m2 and include two warehouses with an area for logistics services of 40,000 m2. One of the warehouses has been specifically designed for the storage and picking of food and non-food products and has an area of approximately 8,000 m2. The second will be used for Contract Logistics activities and has a total area of 32,000 m2. Thanks to this expansion, the new delegation now has 1,880m2 of offices and a social area. In addition, an additional 3,000 m2 of outdoor storage is available adjacent to the center. Including the distribution center, located 40 kilometers away, in Oschersleben, the Dachser logistics center in Magdeburg now offers a total of 55,000 m2 for logistics operations, as well as space capable of holding around 80,000 pallets.
"In our new facilities we provide warehousing and distribution services to our client Globus Baumarkt (DIY and construction products company), as well as well-known regional and global manufacturers and retailers of industrial and food products," explained Christian Schäckel, General Manager of the Magdeburg logistics center. "For these customers, our employees implement a forward-looking logistics strategy designed to help them grow," he concluded.
A strong partner in the region for more than 25 years
Dachser has been operating in the Magdeburg region for more than a quarter of a century. Around 170 employees are in charge of ensuring the proper start-up and operation of logistics in this area on a day-to-day basis. "In addition to the classic transport services, we also take care of the warehousing of industrial and food products and offer value-added services such as the construction of displays and the packaging of products," said Schäckel. From facilities in Magdeburg, Dachser serves destinations such as Belgium, the Netherlands and Austria with daily departures. The Dachser Air & Sea Logistics headquarters in Langenhagen, near Hannover, connects the Magdeburg logistics center with all global markets.
