Dachser, a leading multinational in the logistics and transport sector, has just installed a digital learning unit, Dachser Blue Box, in its Porto branch, Portugal. This learning “booth” is the first in the Iberian Peninsula and the sixth in Europe, and represents an important advance in the training and development of people who work in the company's warehouses and transit terminals.
Dachser Blue Box reinforces a learning environment that combines the latest technology and innovative design to provide an immersive and efficient e-learning experience. This innovative concept has been recognized with the eLearning Award 2024 in Germany, standing out as an essential tool for continuous training in the logistics sector. The international German company complements this resource with a digital learning platform accessible to the entire organization, 382 locations around the world, through a Learning Management System (LMS). This system allows branches to create and upload personalized training content and also manage the progress of their staff.
The Dachser Blue Box offers easy and immediate access to the company’s extensive e-learning world, including modules on dangerous goods management or even Dachser-specific topics such as @ILO and standards for transit terminals. These sessions complement traditional classroom training and preparation, providing a deeper and more detailed understanding of critical logistics topics. To meet the needs of an ever-changing operation, the Blue Box has been designed with a plug-and-play approach. Its mobility is facilitated by a forklift guide system and wheels for manual handling, allowing it to be moved and reinstalled in just a few minutes. In addition, the cabin is equipped with impact protection and a noise-cancelling system, creating an ideal learning environment.
Training tailored to the needs of warehouse staff
Installing the Blue Box brings numerous benefits to warehouse staff, giving them access to short “training pills” tailored to their specific needs, at flexible times, even during night shifts. In addition, it facilitates ongoing training on industry-specific topics or warehouse-specific procedures, such as loading or unloading goods, continuous improvement, and more. Learning progress is effectively monitored, eliminating the need for paper signatures and allowing for regular repetition of content, significantly improving training results and increasing people's autonomy in their jobs.

“Logistics is a people business and, for us, training is a key element in the company's HR strategy. That's why we decided that all our staff should have easy access to digital learning,” says Celestino Silva, Managing Director European Logistics Iberia at Dachser. Rui Lopes, Branch Manager at Dachser in Porto, where the Blue Box has been used for a few weeks, says: “When the Blue Box was proposed to us, we immediately accepted it.” He adds: “This device was designed specifically for people who do not use computers to perform their jobs, such as warehouse staff and drivers, and gives them access to the most varied e-learning content, developed specifically for each role and available in 26 languages. Above all, it is a device that really promotes inclusion.”
