Dachser invests 25 million euros in the expansion of the Vienna branch

  • Dachser

Dachser is investing around 25 million euros in the expansion of its Vienna office. Inaugurated in 2008, the facilities, made up of a cargo warehouse and a two-story office building, became too small and the need arose to expand and modernize the logistics infrastructure. Currently, this logistics center in Himberg, about 20 kilometers from Vienna, employs almost 200 people. With this expansion, up to 20 jobs will be created in the industrial and commercial area in the medium term. Work began in March and the expanded facilities are scheduled to come online in mid-December.

The Dachser warehouse in Vienna currently has 7,150 square meters and 80 loading docks. In the coming months, the warehouse will be increased by 5,320 square meters, in addition to an additional 800 square meters for offices and 48 new loading docks. The renovated facilities will thus have a total area of 12,470 square meters and 128 doors for loading and unloading merchandise from the industrial sector and consumer goods.

It should also be noted that the roof area of the new building is being prepared to house a photovoltaic energy system, which will allow the electricity generated to be used later, among other things, for the operation of the logistics center.

The renovated space will also include 99 parking spaces for Dachser employees, 110 new parking spaces for swap bodies, a transporter car park with 118 spaces, as well as the construction of a concierge and service station for the company. In addition, the investment of 25 million euros includes the use of electric vehicles in the future. To this end, 34 charging points for electric cars and three for electric trucks are being built.

DACHSER: Vienna office prepared for the future

Dachser has been active on the Austrian market since 1995 and has been operating in the Austrian capital for 15 years. With the increased capacity, the Vienna branch will be ready to face the future. “The growth of our groupage activities in Europe, which was the reason for the creation of the company in Austria in 2004, has continued and now is the time for expansion,” explains Manfred Dolezal, Dachser Branch Manager at Himberg. "The commitment and logistics experience of our employees are an important part of this success."

In Austria, Dachser has a network of nine branches, six from European Logistics for land transport and logistics, and three from Air & Sea Logistics for air and sea transport, which currently employ 670 people. In 2022, the company billed about 255 million euros in the country.
