Dachser, one of the leading logistics service providers, is expanding its presence in Portugal with the opening of a Corporate IT Hub in the city of Porto. The DACHSER Corporate IT Hub Portugal, which will operate from this November in temporary premises, will initially start with a small team. Recruitment is underway to fill more than 100 highly qualified positions until the end of 2026. The move to a larger office with a floor space of at least 750 square meters is planned to take place in the second quarter of 2025.
The DACHSER Corporate IT Hub Portugal will become Dachser's second-largest IT location globally. It will complement the existing Dachser corporate IT locations in Germany, France, Spain, Hong Kong and the USA, where around 750 specialists develop and optimize Dachser's integrated core systems for transport and warehouse management, ensure IT security and drive the implementation of the company's digitalization strategy. Integrated into the company’s IT structure, the new Corporate IT Hub will play an important role in developing innovative digital solutions to optimize Dachser’s logistics services.
Stefan Hohm, Chief Development Officer (CDO) at Dachser, underlines the strategic importance of this investment: “We have been investing in integrated systems and transparent data exchange for many years. However, in today’s dynamic and volatile business environment, we must digitalize even faster and more consistently to meet the increasing demands for transparency, adaptability, security, efficient use of resources and also sustainability.”
“The Corporate IT Hub in Portugal will enable us to further strengthen and expand our digital capabilities and thus support Dachser’s future growth. In pursuit of our long-term mission to become the most integrated logistics provider, we are also constantly striving to become the most digitalized logistics service provider in the world,” he adds.
Porto: a new strategic IT location
Regarding the choice of Porto as the location for this new IT center, Ralf Morawietz, Corporate IT Director (CIO) at Dachser, explains: “The city of Porto has several competitive advantages, starting with its international environment, which is very technology-oriented. It has high rates of innovation and cybersecurity, as well as access to excellent talent, due to its proximity to several universities, among other factors. Porto is clearly on its way to becoming one of the most important technology centers in Europe.”
The project reflects Dachser’s commitment to continue investing in Portugal and to consolidate its position as one of the most innovative companies in the world in the logistics sector.
