Three books to give as a Christmas gift

  • A person wrapping a green book in brown paper while sitting on a wooden floor surrounded by glowing Christmas lights and gift boxes under a decorated tree.

When you give a book as a gift, you give a ticket to other realities, to other worlds and, sometimes, a balm for the heart.

Audrey Azoulay, Director General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), highlighted the importance of books as tools that generate knowledge and provide well-being, stating: “books inform us, entertain us and allow us to better understand our world.”

In the recent survey by EL PAÍS and Cadena SER on the Spanish reader of the 21st century, it was revealed that 69.5% of respondents mentioned that reading helps them to have peace when they go through emotional slumps.

Meanwhile, in the report on consumer habits in the Book sector 2024 presented by the International Federation of European Booksellers, it showed that the literary genre preferred by readers in Spain, the United States, France, Portugal and the United Kingdom is fiction, and the most chosen reading format is paper with a preference of over 80%.

Now, we share three reading suggestions to give as gifts this Christmas.
