The X "Ruta de la Fabada y las Verdinas" 2024 begins

  • Celebrating the success of the Fabada Route.

A worldwide culinary event that pays tribute to Asturias and its cuisine.

  • It is celebrated from February 16 to March 17, 2024 and will bring together a selection of restaurants from around the world that will offer menus with Asturian fabada, fabes or verdinas.
  • On February 24, #FabadaDay, World Fabada Day, is celebrated and a selection of journalists, bloggers and friends of the fabada will compete on RRSS with their preparations of this well-known dish.
  • This edition is the largest in its history, bringing together 140 restaurants in Europe, America, Asia and Oceania.

The La Fabada and Las Verdinas Route, with nine editions behind it, five of them worldwide, reaches its tenth year of celebration with record numbers, with more than 140 restaurants from all over the world having registered. The celebration dates for this tenth edition will be from February 16 to March 17, 2024, celebrating #Fabadaday World Fabada Day, on February 24, 2024.

The Fabada and Verdinas Route and #FabadaDay, World Fabada Day, is a recognition of one of the most emblematic dishes in Spanish gastronomic history, and during the days of its celebration, Asturians, wherever wherever they are, they share them with the rest of the world to celebrate, beyond recipes and ingredients, the international dimension of Asturias' fabas and verdinas.

The 10th edition is once again organized by the events and communication company Nacho Sandoval Strategies and Marketing and is sponsored by Codilex Camín Astur and Entrecanales Domecq, with the Rioja wine Glorioso or Glorioso Selección Especial 100 Anniversary with the collaboration of the Oviedo City Council, Association of Hospitality and Tourism of Asturias, OTEA, FACYRE and Moscovitas de Rialto.

The presentation of this new edition took place on February 15 at the Centro Riojano in Madrid with the presence of both the organization and representatives of the sponsors. The guests were able to participate and taste a selection of dishes made with beans and verdinas from Codilex Camín Astur, by several participating restaurants, as well as a tasting of the Glorioso Crianza and Glorioso Selección Especial 100 anniversary wines. The tasting of dishes was carried out in the following order:

All participating restaurants will be geolocated on Google Maps, forming a digital gastromap with their data and gastronomic proposals that can be consulted through the website www.rutadelafabada.com. They will offer different menus whose main dish will be the Asturian fabada, or dishes of beans with tripezos or verdinas, with beans or verdinas from Codilex Camín Astur, harmonized with the D.O. wine. Rioja Glorious aging and Glorious Special Selection 100 Anniversary, from Entrecanales Domecq.

During the development of the route, the 2nd edition of the Las Mejores Verdinas de España contest will take place, in which those restaurants registered in the 10th Fabada and Las Verdinas Route will be able to participate.

A total of 140 restaurants registered in the 10th edition.

Thanks to the success of previous editions, 16 locations have participated since the first edition in 2015, and this year there are 140 restaurants spread across five continents.

The largest presence, with 80 registered restaurants, is in Asturias, 37 restaurants in Madrid, seven in Castilla y León, three in Andalusia, three in Castilla-La Mancha, one in Aragón and one in Andalusia. At an international level, there are 14 participating restaurants between America, Asia and Oceania, in what is the largest edition to date.

Since 2017, the UN has celebrated World Pulses Day every February 10. Although health authorities consider them a “basic food” to maintain a healthy diet, in Spain we are far from the world average consumption of about 21 grams per person/day, that is, 5.7 kg per person per year. according to the FAO.
