Last Wednesday, January 15, the logistics provider Dachser and the vehicle manufacturer JAC Motors Iberia officially presented in Madrid, the five new 7.5-ton electric trucks that are incorporated into the Dachser fleet for last-mile distribution in the Spanish capital. The JAC trucks will be used in the Dachser emission-free delivery zone in Madrid.
The new units, manufactured by JAC Motors, stand out for their real range of up to 230 kilometers. These trucks will make daily deliveries and collections from Dachser's central warehouses in Coslada to the most central areas of Madrid. This implementation not only improves air quality, but also reduces noise pollution in the city. This development also reinforces the German company's commitment to sustainability and its position as a leader in responsible logistics, marking a new milestone on the road to a cleaner and more efficient future.
The event was attended by Celestino Silva, Managing Director of Dachser; Marc Oliva, CEO of JAC Motors Iberia; Luis Miguel Torres, Director General of Transport and Mobility of the Community of Madrid, and Sonia Murillo Martín, Councillor for Ecological Transition, Mobility and Transport of Coslada.
Dachser's vehicle supplier Modenatrans also took part in this event.
Celestino Silva, Managing Director DACHSER Iberia, highlighted: "We are convinced that the zero-emission urban deliveries we make make an effective contribution to reducing CO2 emissions, improving air purity and reducing noise pollution from road traffic. With every electric truck we add to our fleet, we pave the way to a more sustainable future. Our goal is to continue incorporating these vehicles into DACHSER Iberia, as well as the rest of Europe, over the coming years."
Marc Oliva, CEO of JAC Motors Iberia, said: "The decarbonisation of freight transport must become a priority for the good of the planet. At JAC Motors Iberia we celebrate that companies like Dachser are taking the step towards cleaner transport. However, this is only the beginning of the road and more government commitment and clear policies are required for a successful transition. Companies, of all sizes, must assume our responsibility and become agents of change."
For his part, Luis Miguel Torres, Director General of Transport and Mobility of the Community of Madrid, said: "The Community of Madrid promotes sustainable mobility with the promotion of electric vehicles, the installation of charging points and decarbonisation. We seek efficient, inclusive and environmentally friendly transport, simplifying procedures and regulating key operators."
Sonia Murillo Martín, Councillor for Ecological Transition, Mobility and Transport of Coslada, added: "This initiative not only reflects responsible business leadership, but also a clear example of how companies can be agents of change in the fight against climate change".
A comprehensive strategy for climate protection
By pursuing a long-term climate protection strategy and focusing on efficiency, innovation and inclusive responsibility, Dachser is paving the way for sustainable logistics together with its customers and partners.
Among the logistics provider's most prominent initiatives is "DACHSER Emission-Free Delivery", launched in 2018 in Stuttgart, which manages the delivery of goods in defined urban areas using exclusively electric vehicles, reducing air pollutants and greenhouse gases. Currently, 21 European metropolitan cities, including Madrid, have adopted this initiative.
